His pass completion was up there with the best in Europe and he was injured for a massive part of the season.

But only on boards would a thread about Liverpools next manager morph into a thread about amalgamating LFC and AFC teams
Totally, best of luck to Rodgers, much better bet than Martinez, looking forward to watching Liverpool play next season, I think interesting times ahead for them as long as he gets the time to build something.

He'll certainly handle the media better than Kenny thats for sure.

Funny quote from Rogers (taken from football 365)

Brendan Rodgers in the South Wales Evening Post, June 1:
"It was an extremely, extremely difficult decision because my plan was always to stay here at Swansea for a number of years."

Brendan Rodgers at his Liverpool press conference, later on June 1: "Once I found out I was the number one target, it was an easy decision."

Congrates to Liverpool fans, im a big fan of Rogers!
He will prove to be a big success im sure once he is given sufficiant time to mould his team.

Liverpool will start to play nice football under him and i just hope he wont get you lot being too good .

What he has done with swansea and the way he has done it he deserves a crack at the big time and he will be cabable of rebuilding the pool and taking his career to a new level. After all mourinho took him under his wing so he must have some thing about

Best of Luck Buck!!

Play with a CM of Steven Gerrard and Charlie Adam you'll be begging for a DM in no time I'd imagine!

I'm assuming he'll try to mirror Swansea's style of play with Liverpool. How long will that take? You can't just start playing that very specific possession based style of football with any team and hit it off in a couple of months. Swansea have been working on that style for years. I can see this ending in disaster.

And if he gets full control then it gets even more ridiculous. He has done absolutely nothing to deserve the manager's job at Liverpool with full authority. he might work out but it's unlikely that he will and the risk is far too great.

Liverpool need to get back into the Champions League ASAP. Hire a manager with a proven track record, give them money to spend and let them work away. They don't need to be flirting with the likes of Rodgers hoping that he'll turn out to be the next Pep Guardiola or Sir Alex Ferguson. They don't have the leeway to be taking risks like that, especially with the stern competition that exists in the PL at the moment.
This is what I said at the time of the appointment and I've seen little to change my mind.

One huge flaw in that piece Blatter is that no one expect us to hit it off in a couple of months.

No real surprise at who dragged this thread up.

Blatter is bang on, the man is out of his depth, and the annoying thing is if Liverpool had went for a proven manager and a couple of decent signings they could have been in the mix for fourth because of how much Arsenal have regressed and Spurs being so inconsistent.

Instead they went for 'The Rodgers' and his 'philosophy' which looks little more than a pile of bullsh*t at this stage. Personally I feel he got the job solely on the fact that he will be a yes man as the club follow Arsenal's pattern of sacrificing any attempt at trophies in favour of profit and cashing in on their best player at the end of every season.

I think today was a turning point for his term as manager, and even some of his supporters will be questioning him. Should be even more fun when he signs Sturridge in January and Suarez leaves in the summer.

Maybe not, but would it be fair to say that most would have expected much better progress by now?

The 'sack Rogers' brigade did expect it judging by their comments.

True. However if we won today would he suddenly be a great manager and would it have been a brilliant decision by FSG? I mean a win today and we would have been 3 points off 4th. He's not done as well as hoped, but he's not been as bad as some people make out.

If you offered Liverpool fans the chance to be 5 points off fifth half way through December they would have snapped your hand off for it. If you said we'd be 12th they would have a fit.

I didn't say it at the time but I thought it, and still think it now.
