I liked him before he became Labour leader, then found him extremely unimpressive but gave him a chance for a bit as I felt it wasn't fair to compare him to his predecessor who is a pretty charismatic guy IMO - but no, Gilmore is just a weak presence. Met him - he didn't seem good with people at all.

I don't think he's an absolute **** though - it seems like it's almost mandatory to say that about any politician who's in government.

Perhaps its because he is such a bad lier? Because of his contempt for the intelligence of the public? Because he makes grandiose statements like this knowing that he is a minor politician from a minor country and is so far outside the inner circle of Europe that whatever he says/thinks/does is meaningless.
