Oslo for one day in June - Suggestions?
En route to Poznan for Euro 2012 I am spending a night in Oslo. I am just wondering does anybody have any recommendations with regards to things to see or do in one day here? We land early in the morning so will be in the city shortly after 10 am. I hear it is very epensive also, did anybody find any places which were good value to eat (It’s just me and one of the lads so not looking for anything fancy or formal!)

I was there a couple of years ago and found a restaurant that did an all you can eat pizza lunch menu. Went there a couple of times to fill up during the day and just had pot noodles for dinner
It was on the main street running between the train station and the park with the palace. I'm pretty sure it was called 'egon' so it might be worth checking them out to see if they still do a good lunch time deal. Restaurants are crazy expensive over there!!! Even ones that you're familiar with have way higher prices over there. For free things to do around the city; - The park with the palace is lovely if it's a nice day and you like a bit of nature - The city hall is worth a look. It's where they give out the nobel peace prize. - The opera house is good if you're into architecture (and nice views from the top at sunset... which is very late in June! ~11pm) - It's nice just to have a walk around the waterfront and the shops around the area. It's a very small city and a nice place to generally just explore and see what you stumble across! - There are boats out to the islands, which is good if the weather is nice.
