Thanks Mick and fair play. Could pressure not be put on runireland to improve their site. They can't handle any amount of traffic and that should be important for a running website.

Personally i think the Run Ireland site is not up to scratch for entries for the Galway 5km series. I think its 3 years running now the site has not been able to cope with people trying to enter. I'm sure there has to be another company who would be delighted to get the business and would be able to handle the traffic. If not, i would suggest going back to the old postal entry system and having a lottery for entries.

I fully understand that everyone organising the series is doing so on a voluntary basis and everyone appreciates it, and i'm sure it's a thankless job, but it's just very frustrating when you are sitting on your computer for over an hour trying to enter a race and not sure if you will get in.

Hopefully the race organisers can draw some experience from this years problems and try and resolve the problems with RunIreland.

Running gear appeal for the homeless

Hi,

I have started an appeal for the homeless program,On The Road Again, www.otra.ie
We are looking for all sorts of running clothes, male & female. Anything decent that you may have that you never wear or have grown out of will do.

We will be doing a collection at the first 5k race in Athenry on May 1st.

Cheers,

I'd shoot for 7 if possible. Also - might help things if people car-pooled out as parking is limited out in newcastle. Joyces car-park in Athenry is usually a meeting spot for car poolers from about 6:30 on, I'll be swinging by there if I'm running.

Next week, are we turning left or right when we leave the business park in Cgalway? I like to know if the big climb is at the start or later in the race Last year we went left, previous year we went right!!!
