Hi, 29 year old guy here from Galway. I'm new to Dublin and it's great but a little difficult to meet people. I know boards do a meetup now and again but for a city the size of Dublin there really should be something on a weekly basis. What do you all think?

I'm not sure it would work - have you tried DIGS?

I don't know if this is the right place to suggest it but I'm going to throw it out there anyway, if anyone is up for a coffee morning/afternoon tea type thing ..was wondering if a genderqueer (eh..that's the best I could do) pool of us could maybe get together to exchange info and talk about stuff.
I know there are a lot of resources and support groups out there but I'm not in Dub and don't/can't really avail of them but a private gathering of our own would probably suffice. I know there's a few others who would be interested so maybe now would be a good time to organise something? |

mostly mtf's as far as I can tell. There seems to be far more transwomen out there and while I wouldn't identify completely as trans anyway I'd definitely fall under the parameters. I know it's all comes under the same umbrella, it's just not so much about finding a formal advice group but really just getting to meet others to talk about things like clothes, and..y'know that kind of thing..from the other side of the coin. and drinking coffee in a non gender specific kind of way. I thought I would suggest a gathering amongst ourselves, both male and female if they are interested just to get to meet others from here in the same boat.

There's a small group in both Waterford and Cork. Vanessa Lacey from TENI usually heads to Waterford.

Yeah, I know Vanessa I see her about regularly (used to play football with her on a weekly basis) I'm thinking about a small boards contingent, feel a little more familiar with people here and would just like to get to know them better. Maybe a boards beers would be more apt then?

I'd certainly be open to meeting up,I wouldn't make it every week but even now and then would be nice. I'm actually fairly gender queer too baby buff,I actually view myself at heart as queer more than rigidly male or female, but I still think it's best for me live as a woman, the in-betweenie world is hard one to function in.
Actually has anyone any interest in a book club? that could happen either on line,in the real world or both?. I tried to establish such in Limerick but no response, which I felt was odd. |
