I'm not with ya - I thought each day would have CSS calculated seperately. Saturday was easier and CSS might be 36pts, Sunday was wild and could have been 33pts. Having the two just calculated on Sunday evening with the combined scores is a little blunt if you ask me.

CSS doesn't get calculated on how easy or hard the conditions are, although they can impact it.

CSS is derived from compitition cards handed in during the day and i think its something along the lines of an average of the scores handed in throughout the compitition.

They can calculate one for two days, but you might find that depending on the two days and the scores that come in they may be the same.

This is not a straightforward calculation. Broadly speaking, the calculations follow

For Men; Discount all scores returned by category 4 players (handicaps 21 to 28), for Ladies; Discount all scores returned by category 5 players (handicaps 29 to 36)
Calculate the percentage of players who competed in the competition in each of categories 1, 2 and 3 [and 4 for Ladies],
Calculate the percentage of scores returned by the category 1, 2 and 3 [and 4] players which were two over the Standard Scratch Score of the course, or better.
Use the percentages from (2) and (3) to determine the Competition Scratch Score by referring to a table supplied by CONGU for the purpose.

Actually, having a look on HowdidIDo and its listing CSS as being 74 for the competition (was sure it listed 72 on Golfnet, but maybe I misread), so missed out on buffer by 1 stroke

Not sure on the each day/overall weekend for the CSS calc, might check that with the guys in the clubhouse next time I'm in.

just re-read what you meant there, the medal shouldn't be over two separate days anyway so IMO thats a false competition.

Usually medals are only on one day and its first come first served.

either that or qualifiers based on previous competitions.

I had a great sporting weekend..almost perfect.

Ulster and Leinster both win and my Son's U-14 team win the Leinster cup (rugby).

On Sat I shot 40 pts with 23 on the back 9 off 14 h'cap.

I was under starters orders from the wife to be back as soon as possible so I went into the competitions room and sorted out all the cards in order and happily placed my card on the top as leader in the clubhouse.

All the rushing....and then I find out later that night that I hadnt signed my card!.

Suppose..it's good to see the Men's Hon sec getting disqualified as it shows that nobody above the law

I dont really miss the John Rocha glasses...or the order of merit points..but man.. 1.4 shots and now with exceptional scoring another 40 next week could get me down to 9 h'cap in a week

Now for Man City to win tonight!

Strokes comp of the back stakes Sunday

Shot 86 gross off 12 for a 74 and got third plqce

Was annoyed after as I missed 6 par putts from within 6 feet. I guess the wind was ferocious so I cant be too hard on myself, can be tough to put in those conditions

Cut back down to 11 aswell

Highlights of my round were my birdie from the right bunker on the 4th and my par on the index 2, 7th!! Driving was super - 86% of fairways hit!
I had a lesson with David Lewis in Greystones driving range on thursday and was really pleased with my game, even if the wind did it's best to wreck it
He also adjusted the lie of my irons by 2* flat... big difference to the feel of the strike.
We must be all mad

F#@k this!!
22 points today off 9. And yes that's for 18 holes!!
6 scratches and 2 fabulous 4 putts were the highlights of the round!!
Conclusion: instead of practicing go to the pub and get hammered. Seems to work best for me.

Integrating a few pages in my blog to basically track my scores for the year. Trying to pare the howdidido API to get it to display through HTML but thats in the works , for now its a pretty bog standard google spreadsheet

What jumps out is the decent finishes I have had this year from only coming back into golf

20 points in 9 hole comp in Lucan yesterday as back nine was closed. Best I have played in ages. Was honestly the worst score I could have had and managed to get 3rd.

On another note, anyone playing in the scratch cup this weekend are in for a treat as the greens are top class.
