That's certainly one theory. Personally I think it's a classic case of them trying to get some moving, action-shots of the Megane for the ad. They obviously fell into the age-old trap of taking the photo when the Megane was moving faster than the speed of light. Not all of the light bouncing off the car reached the camera lens - hence the massive white patches.
