I'd say 20 minutes of their factory time would produce all the Remington rifles that Ireland buys in 2 years.

I doubt it. Remington is a great company, they take care of their civilian customers. I do not know anyone in the States that has only one Remington. Most of us have a few 700's, an 870, and/or an 1100.

They're big as well, they can turn out product on one end without losing output on another. Also, if there was going to be a production problem, I would have expected it to have happened earlier, at the beginning of the wars, not towards the end.

I am also confident that Remington has learned from Smith and Wesson's debacle during their British owned tenure and Clinton years - don't sell out civilians for the gov't.

I bet Remington doesn't miss a beat.

Colt did the same thing. Turned their back on the civilian market. I was watching a guns and ammo tv show where colt had a load of press at Gunsite trying to sweet talk the public back into buying their AR's. They even admitted they neglected the civilian market !
