I'm also a right hander playing left. Dunno how or why I started like that. Being from Kilkenny I've been hurling since I was 3/4 so probably started back then.
Pure nuisance finding a club in a shop. Very handy for my home course though. It's set up perfectly for me. I fade it naturally so 9 of the holes are dog leg lefts and the rest are straight. Makes hitting a drive pretty easy as long as you kept it on the fairway. |

I remember years ago I tried to change to become a right hander. I reckoned I'd have no problem getting clubs then. It lasted 20 swings out in my back garden before I gave up. Too much effort. |

I know this is old news but I was listening to radio last night and the old bugbear of golf liberals was brought up, letting women join Augusta as members. Well Augusta is a private club and can omit whoever it see's fit to on whatever grounds it wants, that might sound unfair but the High Court in Ireland agreed with this principle when women brought a case against Portmarnock.
I'm not sexist by any means but the tradition in Augusta should be respected, They shouldn't be made feel backward and prejudiced by the PC brigade. |

The point they were making was how ludicrous it was that the members of Augusta were making a presentation on the importance of spreading the game of golf wider, and encouraging more to play it, while at the same time effectively excluding half the worlds population from aspiring to be a member of the most famous golf club in the world. It was at the press conference launching this initiative aimed at increasing the golfer population that Billy Payne was lambasted. They did expand on the specific point to say that regardless of the context of that particular attack, that it is not right that Augusta should exlcude femal members. Nor that the PGA should exclude female members. This point is more open to opinion, but I for one believe that with the standing that its mad that the biggest tournament in world golf is played in a club that doesnt allow female members. I'm not saying that clubs should not be allowed to be all male/all female, of course they should, but serious questions need to be asked when a tournament of this profile is played in a club that doesn not allow women members. It's not good. |
