Heating is turned off but water still heats up

Hi, looking for any suggestions that might help me here. Moved in to a new house a couple months ago and have noticed that the water in the water cylinder is always hot no mater if the heating or immersion is on or off.

For example the other night I went to bed:
Boiler was set to 0
Heating switch was set to off
Termostat was set to 0 degrees
immersion switch was set to off, with no red light on

When i got up the next morning, water tank is still hot and hot water is coming out of the taps.

I had the boiler serviced today and said it to the chap, he was an Airtricity callout though and hadn't a clue unfortunately.

I'm afraid it's costing the energy bills a fortune. Any ideas?

And you dont have solar panels heating the water ?

I would reccomend getting an electrician in to check the immersion is wired correctly, im assuming you would notice the boiler coming on if that was heating it.

Theres isnt a solid fuel stove connected to it or anything, or a backboiler in the fireplace if you light a fire most nights ?

Is it a case that the cylinder is insulated and the hot water is staying hot over night?

My first thought, given it's a new house.

And my second. My hot water wouldn't be piping hot in the morning, but it'd be hot enough for handwashing and general cleaning. No idea what kind of boiler it is, but it's an A-rated house so I'm pretty sure it's insulated.

If its not piping hot but hot enough for washing then it sounds like you pre-insulated cylinder is doing its job.
A test you can do is the leave the hot water switched off at the immersion and heating programmer for 24hrs and still use your hot water normally. You will soon know if it's not working right.
