Doubt they could have managed a quicker turnaround than yesterday in Maynooth. Impressive!

LE is light engine; it's the term for a locomotive moving that's not hauling a train.

That's the Puffing Billy sign and yes, it's a standard one that's used at many accommodation or private crossing points.

With the Garret Fitzgerald memorial train running on Saturday, is the turntable in Mullingar still operational or will 461 have to run bunker-first back to Dublin?

The turntable there still works; it turned 186 last year on a tour.

Thanks Losty.

One more question: do you know if/where she is scheduled to stop for water on the outbound and inbound trips?

I didn't see paths yet but I'm guessing Maynooth around 10:10AM, Mullingar around midday and onto Longford; there was tickets on sale for local shuttles. If 461 is to be turned, it will be done later in the day.

A word of warning to anybody popping down; the turntable can't be seen from the public platform on the station. Unless Irish Rail allow it on the day, it will not be possible to see 461 being turned. That said, uou will be more than welcome to pop down to the station to see the train

Losty, sorry to be a pain, but according to the RPSI she is leaving Dublin @ 11:30am. So 12:10 @ Maynooth?
