I was up the West yesterday and decided to nip into Ardrahan on the way home.

I was surprised to see that there wasn't any vehicular access to the station and didn't notice a car park (had the family with me so not much poking was done).

What station building is currently in use there ? Is there a car park ? The only signage I saw was all negative ie "park here and die" sort of stuff . I drove in from the Ennis side .

As far as i can remember i took this one at Ardrahan. Decent size car park,can't remember from which side access was from though.

Access from N17 or R347.

100 car park spaces http://www.irishrail.ie/Ardrahan#sa3 If I'm correct, the car park is in the field that is shown ploughed here: http://maps.google.ie/maps?q=Ardraha...alway&t=h&z=17 (photo is old).

I can only imagine the signs you saw were the ones saying don't park on the access road.

Folks, thanks for the images and maps.

It would appear then that the station is accessed from within the village along the R437 rather than from further up the Ennis - Galway road (which is where is was looking for signs).

No, it can be access from either road.
