Well done Rory, great round, did what he had to and did it well.
But apart from Rory winning it was a great tournament, some testing conditions and great rounds from Lee and Tiger on the last day.
Tournament play is looking for for 2012 if this continues.

Truly magnificient gutsy display day 4. I lost count of the saves he was making. Even with the bould Tiger coming in with a 62 Rory kept his head and did what was required.

The guy is only 22 for chrissakes and check out his interview with the TV goon after he got the trophy. Professionalism and polish personified. Incredible young man.

Woke up with a smile on my face today after that. Delighted for him and his ma and da.

Roll on Augusta. The start of the Mackattack Slam.

ridiculous shot. one of the very best ive ever seen live. but did he mean it?

a 203 yard carry that lands on the fringe and COMES TO A STOP 2 YARDS LATER ( !?) leaving an 8 foot putt for eagle.

i mean really... is this what he intended?... If so... what balls!

Might have pushed it a tad or it got caught up in the wind, but make no mistake he was definitely going flag hunting. He had to, to apply some pressure on Rory.

With the money Woods earns, I have no doubt that he was trying for the eagle. Coming 2nd doesn't help his bank account that much but coming first is more important than winning or loosing some loose change.

Thoroughly enjoyed that final round.
The PGA badly needs Tiger back to his best ,its not the same without him ,every good story needs a villain.

What the hell?

Why would you think he didn't mean it? Judy cause it was so close it was a fluke? Course he meant it, he was trying to makeup as much ground as possible! Any long hitters with balls were going for it in 2!

I always laugh a little at how people react to individual shots on telly. Woods 2nd to 18 will be hailed as one of the best shots in recent history. There is no doubt that he pushed that shot by a good 20 yards or more and was very Very VERY lucky to have it work out the way it did.

His drive was pulled straight at the fairway bunker but he somehow managed to carry it by a foot, bounce through the rough and finish in the semi. His second landed right of the flag on a fluffy upslope which helped it to stop quickly. If it landed anywhere other than in that 1 yard circle he would probably have been in the water. The only great shot he hit on the hole was the putt which was perfect.

In his post round interview he says he was aiming at the tunnel under the grandstand trying to get it onto the middle of the green and make the long putt. In the end he pushed it and it all worked out. He didn't mean it at all. I say fair play to Tiger - he didn't try to pretend that he was aiming straight at it - and he had two iffy swings on 18 and just got on with it and holed the eagle putt.

So I think Woods played great but got very very lucky on 18. McIlroy on the other hand played pretty poorly and churned out one of the most mature performances of his career. Never seemed ruffled or worried and just worked hard to get the job done. Bravo to both!!

Ah that's no way to talk about Jimmy Roberts. He is a fine broadcaster even if last night wasn't his best work.

I'm still to be fully convinced that Tiger is back. There was no real pressure on him yesterday, so he was able to go out there and shoot what was in fairness to him an incredible round. I don't think there is anything wrong with his swing mechanics anymore, he has done enough "reps" to be comfortable with his new swing. But it all comes down to what is going on between those ears of his.

If you look at the last few tournaments this year which he had a chance to win, first being Abu Dhabi where he never looked like pipping Robert Rock to the post.
Second then was in Pebble Beach where Phil Mickelson just absolutely blew past him and Tiger looked only a shadow of his former self.

Until he can actually go and win a tournament with a "full field", he won't be truly back in my eyes. Despite me being so negative though, it is great to see that he is almost but not quite back to his former best. I think that if it was any player other than Rory going into those final 5 holes with only a two shot lead over Mr Woods, then Tiger would have won last night.
