Go to your lists page (Home > Lists > More)
Click on name of the list you want to delete
Click on the Manage List dropdown and select Delete List

In Facebook when I follow the above the command Delete List does not appear. When I click on Manage List all I get is

Rename list
Add/remove friends....
Choose update types....
Archive list

Any ideas?

Delete List will only show up for lists you explicitly created yourself. Archive List will show for lists that get automatically created based on some commonality between users on it, like where they live or work.

Thanks for responding

The "thing" I'm trying to delete is my place of work. It appears twice in Lists and I want to delete the extra instance. How did this happen and how can I correct it?
