Hi,
I have a condition called hip impingment, the technical term is Femoroacetabular impingement or FAI and it is a condition where there is too much friction in the hip joint
I'm a 24 year old male with hip/groin/buttock pain for the last 3 years. Can no longer play sports.
I went to see eanna falvey and keith synott in the santry sports clinic and he told me that I may have hip impingment.
I'm now waiting to see kevin mulhall the hip speacialist. However I've heard that hip impingment surgery is not perfomed in Ireland, well according to the recent article about Diarmuid Duggan, an x-cork footballer

Is this surgery carried out in Ireland? Has anyone had it done?
Diarmuid Duggan had surgery in the UK by Doctor called Damian Griffen http://www.damiangriffin.org/
Also Conor Mcmanus a monaghan footballer had surgery by Damian Griffen

This is slightly worrying as my insurance won't cover surgery aboad.
I would be very interested to hear from anybody who has the condition or has had surgery on it, specifically who you went to see, how the surgery was and most importantly how you are feeling now.
I'm desperate to get it sorted.
Looking forward to hearing from you
John
