Kaboul best central defender in the EPL statistically?

Just saw this and was shocked (although I consider Kaboul quality). Needs some backing up though!

He's kinda lucky that all the superior centre backs are having nightmares of a season or are playing for teams that aren't nearly as cohesive as Spurs. He has been a new player this season though.

I think he's been brilliant, after a rubbish start against City & Utd, he's been really solid. He offers something coming out of defence too and has a good bit of pace. I think he's definitely taken over from Dawson as the main CB and if King is fit it should always be Kaboul and King.

Don't rate Dawson at all... Sick of watching his long balls.

I think he's fantastic. It seems the way to keep a player good and solid at centre half might be to just play him all the time. Go figure.

How long has Ledley got left? Will he be ushered into a coaching role sooner rather than later?

I really hope Dawson can retain his form from last year. We really need to stop relying on King, and hoping that he will be available for that important game. I love the guy, but we need a regular and fit partnership at the back. Ideally, Dawson and Kaboul.

As for Kaboul, i was very critical of him in the past, but he's come along massively this season. Definitely one of the most improved players at any team.

what? dawson ahs been bvrilliant for spurs in recent years!!

granted he always looks for the long ball and a lot of the time they dont come off but to not rate him for that, considering his main role is a defender and he defends well!

ut your entitled to your opinion and a good few have backed you up with their thanks not your not alone.

on kaboul i think he far better a player than we sold. he has come on defencivly brilliantly. he was always very comfortable on the ball but now he has improved on the one end of his game he needed to IMO

Following him closely over the years has shown me that he is not a player who would take Spurs to an EPL title. He makes far too many mistakes each season. Ridiculous fouls, comical errors in numerous games. But yeh the biggest problem with him is the long balls. It is completely detrimental to the style of play the club is known for. We have a playmaker in Modric who must get a creaked neck everytime Dawson plays. Dawson bypassing our best player every chance he gets is astonishing.

He can have some good games, but they only really come when he plays alongside King. And to be fair, even I could look good playing alongside King.

In a season where we are 3rd, 10 points clear of both Arsenal and Chelsea and "I guess" in the title race, or atleast may have a say in it we have seen Dawson play just 6 times in the league. That league position and his appearances are imo not a coincidence.

He's a great lad, and a top professional but so was Crouch. IMO he's a good replacement to have when one of our main two centre backs is injured but he should not be first choice or captain.

King will hopefully get a new contract but he wont be around the football pitch for too much longer. Kaboul looks like a long term replacement but Dawson certainly isnt. I would not trust him and Kaboul together as first choice.

Khumalo, havent seen enough of. Gallas will probably leave in the summer as will Bassong and Caulker looks good for Swansea but might struggle to step up to the plate. Uvini was good in Brazil but might struggle and might not even sign for the club.

None of which convince me as a strong King replacement. Vertonghen? Looks immense but doubt Spurs will get him and even if they do it could be a mertesacker #2.

King ending his playing career is the biggest concern for the club outside of HR leaving.

Kaboul's form has underpinned our season. We can't underestimate the presence of Freidel organising things, the fact that BAE and Walker are automatic choices in terms of settling the back four. King has been available since the groin injury settled, and letting Woodgate go and keeping King, which looked a questionable call a few months ago, now looks completely the right call. Kaboul has it all, and while our English players are not having much joy at in. level, Kaboul and now Saha are in the French set-up!
For Sunday, if BAE is out, I'd actually play kaboul LB and leave Dawson and King together. It would give the back four a lot of presence.
