Lads I have to say as a life long Sonic fan who has been severely disappointed in the franchise since Sonic Adventure 2 I have to say...

Sonic Generations is absolutely awesome. Alot of thought went into everything from the level design to the small details of the music on the level select screen remixing itself together as you pass different stages.

The classic stages are so much like the original mega drive levels. It actually brought a smile to my face playing Chemical Plant again aswel as City Escape and Speed Highway.

Honestly guys if you've been disappointed with the Sonic franchise recently you have to get this game it's a total nostalgiagasm.

You will not be disappointed.

Also just thought I'd add these:

It's only short of you don't bother doing all of the side missions for the extra music and artwork etc...

Which I didn't, because those challenges were the worst part of the game.

I actually found them quite fun. The artwork and extra music tracks that you unlock is well worth it.

Achilles, what's the brown and white thing beside Shenmue II in the pic?

Can you do the same levels with new school and old school sonic? How is it different?

The level design and enemies are the same, each level is split into two acts; The first is classic sonic and the second is modern.
You can play the levels in either order of acts.

The levels are glorious in either mode i must say, i never liked the new style of sonic, but i have a better appreciation for them now.

So just bet sonic generations thier and thought i give my impressions on it , so just how did sonic team did for sonic 20th birthday ..broken down , lets begin

Presentation: HUB world is genius can be quite similar to the style in ways to the mario galaxy games where you can explore and walkaround abit , extremely classy and very well done.

Rating:A+

Story: it is what it is nothing groundbreaking here but it cute and simple , could of used more dr Robotnik moments though

Rating:C-

Music: One of the games finest points , like a blast from the past hearing some of the classic tunes remastered is absolute heart stopping stuff, be singing and humming away from start to finish, also remixes of older songs were incredible , one of gamings finest scores

Rating:A+

Gameplay: mixes of both modern and classic sonic both fanbases should be happy here , with modern it plays like sonic colours with mixes of 3d /2d elements which works well for the most part , experienced annoyance with levels like crisis city with have falls that shouldnt occur and bugs that just happen without my control . Classic sonic is the games strongest point with sega releasing 2 demos classic sonic is the closest it has being to feeling like megadrive/saturn games no complaints at all.

Rating:B+

Overall: this is a fan service to sonics fans no doubt, from the opening music it brings back memories. Sega and the entire team should pat themselves on the back, this is a excellent job and seems sonic got some legs left and could make a return slowly but surely , sure the game not perfect with annoying bug deaths , boss battles were medicore to terrible. Last boss battle was the biggest POS i encountered since arkham asylum, i could of used without the extra characters hardly anyone cares about, silver the hedgehog, blaze, chamy bee, cream the rabbit, vector the crocodile.other than that i havent much to say negative towards the game. Sonc has being on a bumby road over the years , but it seems hes on the narrow path to his best years .. In conclusion happy birthday sonic thanks for 20 great years without him i wouldnt be gaming

Overall rating: A
