Where did all this talk of ABUs come from? Responses to this story are no different than the ones in this thread, on the whole.

It's not ABU to suggest United shouldn't be in the Champions League or that it would be incredibly unfair on Basle if they got in.

At least this is put to bed now.United deserved to be knocked out of the CL due to some very poor performances.

Saves a lot of grief that would have accompanied their reinstatement if it had actually happened.

i would like to think that most united fans would not like to see basle knocked out like that, cos of another club.

that would be awful for them. i certainly would take no pleasure getting in like that, we were beaten fair and square.

FC Sion are now on minus 5pts in the League at the half way point, It will be challenging times ahead for them to make sure the deduction does not result in relegation.

It looks to me like they will either face direct relegation, or finish 2nd last a have to play a relegation play off, they are now 26pts off a guaranteed safety spot.

Very harsh ban, of course they are going to appeal though.

Given they took 31 from their first 18 games, and are only 16pts behind the 2nd from bottom side (who took 20pts less then Sion from their first 18 games), they've probably a good chance of making the play off with another 18 to play

I follow Lausanne Sports, judging by how the season has been going so far, I don't see Lausanne finishing above bottom unless this gives us some kind of morale boost. At worst Sion will finish second from bottom which is a relegation/ promotion play-off place. I think it would have been terrible if Man U had of got back into the CL as they really deserved to be knocked out on performance.
