vokera mynute 16e

My sisters vokera mynute is making loud banging noises , usualy problem with heat exchanger blockage on these , so im going to flush the system , as well as doing the heating system id like to remove the heat exchanger and flush this on its own , what id like to know is if anyone knows if the thread on the heat exchanger would take a fitting like a 3.12 or any other type of fitting , id rather not touch the valves on the boiler as they are prone to leak on these boilers. thanks in advance .

Heatexchangers never seem to flush well from sludge or scale, I have tried many in the past, as far a setting up a rig in my garage and leaving them flush for 24hrs

When I eventually cut it open to see what was going on, the blockages were still in there, think it's to do with the hardness of the buildup as it gets subjected to so much heat

Once you finish your flush change for a new heatexchanger IMHO

Sorry about that , but i didnt want to be telling someone not rgi the details on how to take out heat exchangers etc.

I have found the same with heatexhangers often the material has hardened and flushing them doesnt help much .

Hi Sullz

I done mine back in may. I was putting a new zone in for a sun room so I done the whole lot and the heat exchanger. I have a flushing machine so the connectors went straight onto the heat exchanger. A pair of tap connectors will also conect onto it.

I flushed it with X800 but it's starting to make the tell tail signs again.

I was going to change completly next year for a combi and MQ pump but my wife was just diagnosed with breast cancer so everything put on hold and 100% focused on her recovery now.

Sorry to hear that about your wife ! , i might try connecting the flusher onto the heat exchanger so , i suppose ive nothing to lose im not going to be able to get a new one till the new year , i have a bottle of descaler somewhere , why do these things always happen at the worst possible times

Why cant you get one until the new year? some heatmerchants are open on the 27th should get one pretty easy, the3y usually stock them

I don't blame the Vokera boilers, it's poor installation, no inhibitor or flushing when installed, semi sealed that are leaking systems, lack of service etc causing these problems

I have some well installed and maintained ones 12yrs+ (se type) without a whisper of trouble

did you bother fitting any filter or magnaclean type thing on the system , or are you just making do till time for a replacement.

I recently put in a few magnacleans in a boiler house thats 30 years old in an old church and they seem to do a good job

Yeah ive fitted a few before ad they seemed decent enough, but with xmas and everything that comes with it she couldnt afford to do much more than replace the heat exchanger , she couldnt believe that "a piece of steel "could cost 160 euro , nevermind trying to sell her a magnet

You mean a piece of copper (€1600 a tonne)

Don't forget some good quality inhibitor and maybe even a bottle of boiler silencer
