The Best Android

Hello.

I am hoping to buy a smartphone but unsure which one to go for, I hear that the Android system is better than the I phone system. Is this true. Also I was looking at the HTC selection. Has anyone any thoughts or advice on the best one to go with. I will be using it as a private phone but will always be checking emails on it also.

Thank you

Hmm. The Nexus is even inferior to the Galaxy S2 which was released 6 or 7 months ago.

OP, if you want something that works out of the box with minimal effort go for an iPhone.

If you like to tinker (can do on the iphone, but a rooted Android is better than a jailbroken iPhone IMO) then go for Android.

As someone who's owned a number of both, I'm now using an iphone - better battery is the main reason. Mine only went from 100% to 99% this morning after 4.5hrs!! My Galaxys S2/Sensation etc would be town to 90% by then if not more. I don't want to be worrying about battery life so another reason I went back to iphone again.

Having said that, if you want to install a custom ROM on your Android - that can massively improve battery. Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) should address any battery issues also.

I prefer the music player on the iPhone. I know people hate iTunes, but I really don't mind it at all. OP, if you've a problem with iTunes then go for Android - you've more freedom as regards how to transfer data.

Just a couple of things to think about. Enjoy your new smartphone whatever it maybe.

Heh, my dad bought a 4S there over the weekend, leaves home at 8AM when he takes it of charge, by the time he get's home around 6/7 he has to put it back on charge. And all he uses it for is a few calls.

A stereo to a car is hardly the equivalent of the OS on a smart phone

ICS is a significant advantage on hardware that is in the top 5% of as good as you can buy.

The OP asked for the best android .. the article is relevant.

Facetious on my part maybe but every man and his dog knows ICS will be on the SGS2 in a couple of months, thus negating 95% of what makes the Nexus the best Android phone in that reviewer's opinion.

The Nexus is for Android purists.

In term of 'the best Andorid', your choices are a Galaxy S2 or a Sensation XE. The Galaxy has more internal memory but for me the Sensation XE is just a nicer phone to hold.

Both will be getting the latest version of Android (Ice Cream Sandwich) in the early New Year.

For me, the major disadvantage with the current iPhone is its fragility due to the back of it being made of actual glass. You can drop a HTC or a Samsung from a table onto tiles. Good luck doing that with an iPhone. Ok - yes - you can put a case on it but if phones were meant to come in cases then they would.

However, Nexus line is PURE android - i.e. stock/no mods/skins/etc pre-installed.
