Its a saltwater croc, measuring 6.4 meters long and weighing over one ton- potentially the largest crocodile ever caught. This animal would be at home in the Cretaceous!
It will be taken to a park where they expect it will become "the greatest star". The crocodile had seemingly eaten a man (and a water-buffalo) and attacked several people before, so this is one of the rare cases in which the local people decide to spare a "man-eater"'s life. Guess they realized the croc is worth more alive than dead!
Sadly, until a better enclosure is built, the croc will stay in the small caged area you see in the video below.

Haha my info seems to be outdated. The crocodile is already in the larger enclosure, and has been named Lolong. Unfortunately, as of right now he refuses to feed, according to experts because of the trauma of capture. Since crocodiles can spend a long time without eating there's no reason to worry a lot just yet, but they are keeping the number of visitors low so that the crocodile doesn´t get too stressed.

Saw this on the news, apparently the locals were saying there is a bigger one yet to be caught.
