Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

17-03-2011 4:00pm#1Well the contest that began back in January has finally reached its conclusion. We reached the final pick of the game with all 20 participants still in play, 17 of which were able to submit write-ups as well as their votes.
After a fantastic standard set last year, the bar was raised once again this year with some tremendous ideas and feuds set up.
All eligible votes have been counted and checked (several times I promise) and I can reveal to you in the closest battle we have EVER had in the Draft game's four years on the board, with a score of 72 points and a winning margin of just 1 point, the winner of the 2011 Boards PW Draft is...

Congratulations to flah on a fine win and it was evident as the votes came in that the 2009 winner had won many admirers with his show. You can take a look at the new champ's winning write-up here and here.
I'm sure others will join me in offering commiserations to the runner-up waltersobchak who pushed him ever so close with the tightest margin between first and second we've seen all these years. Coming in third place was thebostoncrab with another fine showing from I think a new entrant to the game. He was in with a real chance of victory as was the fourth placed finisher and last year's champ, Gerard.C. Any of these chaps could have conceivably won it which shows how close it was this year. A top four battle that the English Premiership would surely be proud of.

My thanks once again to gimmick for his help with the contest this year. Both of us agreed it ran very smoothly this year and for that my thanks go out to everyone who participated in the game.
I must reiterate how impressed I was with the creativity and the efforts put in this year and I think the table reflects that. I think even F-R is unlucky to get that score and I'd say it was more down to the problems he had submitting the card as his shows set a good standard too imo. Well done to all.
Like previous years, I'll later publish how everyone voted in the Discussion thread. If errors are spotted you can let me know, though I've checked it over and over so I would hope it's fine. That's about it for the 2011 PW Draft. Hopefully it proved a good bit of fun.

I felt f*cking rotten not giving the bostoncrab and Bounty Hunter any votes btw. Two superb efforts that were high up in my thinking but just missed out in the end. On another day I'd have left two others out, it was that close. Diabhal Beag as well I really wanted give points to but again it was a case of too amny good shows and not enough places.
Spongey I feel is a little unlucky to have finished where he did, I thought your roster had amazing depth and marked it accordingly high. Legends from top to bottom of the card.0 -
