Think it's about time the college had a dedicated Photography Club!

Anyone who would be interested in helping set this up, or being a club member, please reply here, or send me a PM.

Also, we should have our own Computer Club too, so if you're interested in that, go here!

    :)

Thinking we should have our own Computer Society.
This is often a group that involves a lot of LAN games, but as we already have an active Games Society, we do not wish to interfere with their continued success, so our focus should not include a games element (except for design/developement reasons).

The Computer Society should be able to establish it's own servers, host members sites, member email address, member discussion forum, provide training to other students, invite guest speakers, field trips, professional membership of ICS, source student discounts for hardware/software, etc, etc.

This will all take some time, and setting up, but you got to start somewhere!?

Anyone who would be interested in helping set this up, or being a club member, please reply here, or send me a PM.

Also, there is interest in starting a Photography Club too, so if you'd like to get involved, go here!

Anyone interested in joining a film club? We're hoping to get started up in the next couple of weeks, and if it turns out to be a success then we will probably run it next year.

    'Liked' for the logo :D

How are you hoping to run it? Cinema trips, hijacking projectors in lecture halls in the evenings, or what?

Yeah the plan is to start by showing a couple of films in a lecture hall and then take it from there, depending on how many people show up/what people want to see/do. Its only early days at the minute!

    LYIT Women's Basketball Team

Any new players always welcome. Games usually start in September and run un till Febuary. The college has won our conference the last 2 years running but fell at the semi finals hurdle in the All Irelands.

Loads of player needed this year as a few are gone from college now.

Drop me a pm if interested in playing and keep an eye out on Socs day

After an unsuccessful start up last year we managed to get the Film Club set up for this year. We have already had our first screening, Pulp Fiction, and we had a great turn out, but we still want to see more for the next one! We have a horror themed week planned for next week, in anticipation for Halloween with the original vampire film 'Nosferatu' on Monday the 24th at 6:30pm and the terrifyingly good Stephen King's 'Pet Semetary' on Wednesday the 26th, also at 6:30pm. Both will be shown in lecture theatre 1166! Everyone is welcome, you don't have to be a member to attend the screenings and they are of course, free of charge! and if horror isn't your cup of tea we will have loads more screenings and events throughout the year, if your interested the best way to stay informed is to 'like' us on Facebook...

Hope to see you all there!
