Scrubbing Grooves

Any suggestions for any substances to get into the grooves of irons and clean out the dirt? Preferably house hold items.
I've read about cleaning with washing up liquid but that just seems to get the surface of the face nice and clean. The dirt in the grooves is very stubborn!

I've scrapped out some of the dirt from the grooves with a small precision screwdriver but it's just not scraping it all out. :eek I need something to loosen up the hard dirt.

Cheers

Another alternative is one of these.

http://www.groovepro.net/index.php

Fits the groove and cuts out any dirt and also sharpens up the grooves by actually cutting into the metal a bit also. Irish company as well.

Let it soak in warm water then as seen above use a nail brush.

Good suggestions, thanks.

I guessed I might have to use a combination of a long soak (below the hosel) and a hardened brush.

Still think I could do with something in the water to help...

Washing up liquid will do the job.

I think he's trying to remove the dark colouration in the groove that the manufacturer put there!
