HTC Desire HD - Locations without using data connection?

Hi all,
I haven't been able to get Locations / Navigation working on my DHD without using a data connection, even with the GPS switched on, I don't seem to be getting an accurate reading.
Whenever I switch on Navigation, with only GPS on, it seems to just keep searching for satellites.

Even if I use it with a data connection, it doesn't seem to be getting a street level location - which seems to me that the GPS isn't being used...

So any ideas?

Or are there any ways to test the GPS on the device - just as a sanity check so I know it's actually working?

I have GPS enabled in Location settings & Running 2.2 also.

Could potentially be a hardware issue:

Anyone else having issues?

Use "GPS Test" (app in the market). Go outside (away from buildings, trees etc) and run it for 5 minutes. If it doesn't work, reboot and try again. If you still can't get a signal, there's a problem

Tried the GPS Test app last night and it worked.

The phone managed to find several satelites but wouldn't update my location, it finally updated after about 10 minutes outside in the cold.

It seems to be working better now though, so I'm wondering does it remember your last location and use that as a reference to update?

Just out of curosity - how long does it take other peoples phones to get a GPS lock?
I have a satnav and a GPS watch so I might race them later on and see which gets a lock faster!
