There are target shooting competitions using crossbow bunny; one of the WTSC air rifle regulars is the Irish national champion at the moment (and has a few gold medals from previous years tucked away in his sock drawer). You're very correct about the hunting - it's utterly illegal to hunt any animal in Ireland with a bow of any kind.
The OP's crossbow definitely does require a firearms licence; and in fact, requires a restricted licence, so you have to apply to the chief super for the licence. Last edited by Sparks; 24-10-2010 at 23:34. |

I'm not sure where Bunny, the crossbow stuff really is very small compared to recurve or compound archery in Ireland - though I hear that the Irish crossbow team out of Athboy do pretty well, having won the world championships in 2005 (1st place individual, 2nd place team), and having set several records.
