unlocking android phones

hi guys

dont have an android phone and was looking a few cheaper models to get me started

Im on vodafone (and wont be changing) so i had been looking at the Vodafone VF845 Joy ( http://www.vodafone.ie/df/paymonthly...erSelected=ALL ).
Been looking at other networks and I see meteor do the Sony Ericsson x8 ( https://store.meteor.ie/phones/sony_...at-you-get-tab )

I am wondering if Android phones are harder to unlock or anything like that?

Does anyone know if the Sony phone can be easily unlocked or where id go to get it unlocked?

Finally, could anyone tell me which phone they think is the better phone?

cheers all

Ironic, GOOGLE Chrome detects it as a website with potential malware.
