I would say keep the survey going, gamers should know what companies or ISP's have good pings as low ping times are a must have for most if not all online games.

Just thinking, would it be an idea to expand the scope of the survey to include PlaySyation Network & Xbox Live? Quite a few people game on their consoles rather than on their desktops...

if anyones interested in following up on this I'll do a bit of an exercise into finding out what IP addresses to ping. So far for the PS3 I've found:

deu01.ps3.download.playstation.net
zeus.dl.playstation.net

although I think they're only the firmware update check server & the login to the PSN page rather thanstraight up gaming servers...

DNS names like those are potentially a bad idea, since they're often geo-balanced.

you're probably rihgt - the zeus one is returning an akami address...

I mustfigure out some way of sniffing the ip address my ps3 connects to through the router - any ideas of software to do that? I have an old hub (not switch)
