JSA entitlement review

I got a letter today asking me to meet the social welfare inspector tomorrow in connection with my continuing entitlement to JSA. It didn't say to bring any documents with me which I find a bit strange.

Anyone know what this may be about?

Around 10 months. I was actually about to go back to college in September but at the last minute I decided to put it off so I never attended and never paid any fee towards it but I think I was half registered on the course. I applied for a grant and a couple of months after they told be I would receive it but I explained I never attended the course and withdrew my place. I wonder does that have anything to do with it?

Could be that alright.

Did you ever think of coming up with a business plan and trying to get on to the Back To Work Scheme?

They let you keep your dole for 1 year if you can come up with a business plan to their liking.

Also, any job applications you have, gather them up and bring them in with you. The welfare love a bit of paper.

Good luck with it.

Should I have told them that I was going to go to college but decided not to? I mean I never actually attended so it shouldn't matter should it? I'm a bit worried now!

Yeah I'm actually going back to college this September if I don't get a job in the meantime! Hopefully going to be claiming BTEA. Should I bring in any papers saying I applied to college also?

Possible that your name is on the student list if you registered

Turns out it was to do with college but it should be sorted now!

I also had to sign some declaration that I was available for and seeking work.

Yeah they wanted me to prove that I was not in college so I sent them an e-mail that says I withdrew before the 25th September. Hopefully that will be enough to say I never attended anyways.

oh crap i did same thing as you. Sent in an application form to apply for college but then decided I wasn't going back so I sent them an email saying i wanted to withdraw from the course. When I saw this thread I got back to the college to make sure I wasnt on the student list so and they told me to send in a course withdrawal form which I did send in last week. I never did attend any classes or anything there as college would have proof of this Im sure. I also was considering doing course by night and I applied for this also but then decided not to and also sent in a email saying I withdrew from the course. I still have the emails saying I withdrew from the courses that I sent to the college. So might I get called in as well ?

I'd say you will get called in if you're name is on the list but sure if you can prove you withdrew from the course then they're shouldn't really be a problem.

Thanks Corcs. I've sent in a withdrawal form and I sent them an email back in September to say I was with drawing from the course and I kept this and college usually keeps attendance records don't they so if they ring and ask them they will be able to say I wasn't there.
