I picked up a bargain (at the time) in here before christmas.
got a 46 inch Panasonic G10 plasma for 900 euro as the box had some water damage - they included 5 year warranty. The TV was on sale for 1499 at the time. Then they had a 10% off sale just after christmas - i went in for a look and seen that they had the Plasma on sale - but they upped the normal sale price to 1,600 before they took off the 10% - jokers!! |

![]() I got the "9% off" email yesterday - but it excludes Miele - and I wanted to buy a Miele hoover! ![]() ![]() Anyone know how I can contact online customer support at the weekend? Any of the contact numbers online are just going through to peoples voicemails. |

ABC guide to buying electricals:
A - Go to NI an get a price B - Go to DID/PowerCity/Hardly Normal etc and ask them to match/better C - Go your local electrics shop and ask them to match DID etc. Worked for me on a €4.5k total purchase for a new build. Was upfront with all of them at all times regarding where I got my prices, gave them the genuine figures on headed paper where available. In the end, paid €81 premium for going with local supplier. On the retailers in B category above, their 'sales' can't be trusted and they hate to see punters coming in the door who have done research and know what they're talking about. To be fair, Power City seem to me to be the most honest of these retailers in recent times, a massive improvement on their old reputation imo. Last edited by Dr. Nick; 27-02-2010 at 22:07. |

what a wild statement to make. maybe its the attitude you bring with you that makes 'sales' people avoid you. there are great sales people and stores out there, you just gotta have a positive attitude. |

On the contrary, there are great sales people out there, especially at HN stores - they obviously go to all the training sessions. It's their pricing policy that stinks, and the fact that sales people are forced to not give the full story at all times (why is a model discounted? - usually it's a poor seller or is about to be replaced - but hey that's sales I suppose). Answer me this: How can these retailers expect their employees to sell on the above example (Panny G10) and still have the respect of their customers? |

its part of business.
selling stock that doesn't sell because its a poor seller from that outlet doesnt mean its a poor/bad product. for most cases when stock needs to be moved it would be reduced and the benefit going to the customer. its not like the product would be faulty or defective, just not popular because of its appearance maybe or coming to end of range. example : im heading back out to HN in Blanch tomorrow because i know they have a Acer laptop on clearance. ive already asked why and its because they have so many.. doesn't bother me. im getting it for 549 when its normally 799 |

They cheat people when they circumcvate legislation (manufacturer's RRP etc), and that's a fact that they cannot deny. I'm open to correction, but the UK legislation seems much more stringent, e.g. 'Previous Price applied for 28 consecutive days in the last 6 months. Intervening prices may apply'. Can Irish retailers stand over something like this? |
