Great movies you never want to see again?!

Here’s an interesting one for you, what movies did you enjoy but don’t see yourself ever watching again from start to finish? (for whatever reason)

I’ll get the ball rolling, off the top of my head…

Magnolia
Das Boot
Metropolis
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Apocalypse Now

For the most part it's their running times, I felt I'd run a marathon after the directors cut of Das Boot.

About Schmidt

I really enjoyed it but I knew coming out that I wouldn't watch it again. I have no idea why. It wasn't overly long or anything.

Children of Men
I Am Legend.

I like to believe in that the human race is here for good & that within us all is the desire to improve our lot for the next generation.

I thought the above were great.... but they depressed me, so I'm lothe to watch them again

(yes I know, I'm a wuss!)

Yeah I mentioned this in a thread a while back...this place has really gone to sh1te recently with these threads. Every second thread is a list thread that ends up with absolutely no discussion whatsoever and people posting silly choices with no justification.

used to be a good message board here

What have you contributed to the forum? Unless you yourself are making an effort to post (interesting) topics to discuss get off your high horse about ‘list threads’ mate.

If people disagree with your views or opinion on certain movies they don’t have to justify their choices/feelings or tastes to you.

You know a place has really gone to **** when you have an arm chair critic belittling other individuals tastes because it’s not in line with theirs.

I’d take a dozen ‘list threads’ a day if it meant it flushed those assholes out.

Get over yourself already; it’s only the internet…

BTW, ‘Oldboy’ still sucks!!!

Next...

Actually they do. Its against the charter to post pointless list threads with no discussion/justification of choices.

Exactly. In times past list threads started and got locked because they were completly pointless and didnt spark any discussion.

Even if you put in the OP contributors must add why they think a particular movie should be included 99/100 times it descends into people naming a film and thats it.

Its a discussion forum,not a name a film forum.

If people just add movies "because i said so" it leads to pointless arguing without any backing up or validity.

To be fair, we really haven't really been enforcing the rules against list threads lately, and turning a blind eye to threads that I would've locked last year. You see, after the whole Film of the Week thing went sour, I felt as if the Films forum died a death, and there was a bit of a nasty atmosphere to it. I thought the best thing to do was just to let the list threads go and hopefully get the place buzzing again. I think now it's certainly a lot more active than it was, even if there is a lot of fairly pointless list threads.

I know, list threads like best this or worst that never contribute much of a discussion, but I think on the whole they've done a bit more good for the forum after the state it was in. I think at some later stage we might revise the rules, and see how it goes from there.
