I have a Philips 37PFL9732/10 Full HD LCD TV. I've connected a fast PC with a Gainward 8600GT 512MB graphics card which has HDMI/DVI/VGA connectors. I've tried both DVI to HDMI, and HDMI to HDMI cables.
The OS is Vista 32-bit Business. Hardware is Q6600 CPU and 4GB RAM.
Now for the problem...
The TV displays the 1920x1080 (1080p) Vista desktop for a few seconds, but then blanks out with a message:
"Unsupported Video Format" displayed on the TV. After a few seconds, the desktop comes back, and then blanks out again. This repeats over and over. Every now and again the message changes to "No video signal". I get the same results with both cables. I haven't tried a component cable yet, but a Google search reveals that others haven't found joy with that either.
Playing arround with the settings on the NVIDIA Control Panel hasn't remedied the problem. I've tried all possible video resolutions. Although by choosing 720p, the desktop stays up for longer.
The connections are fine and I've downloaded the latest drivers from Gainward. The PC is normally connected to a HP 20" 1600x1200 monitor, with which it behaves flawlessly.
Has anyone seen similar symtoms, or can anyone give me some advice.
On the positive side, apart from this issue, my build is a great reasonably priced HTPC. I mean let's face it, it could be the TV.
Rod.
