Looking for value cycling shoes

I'm looking for good value cycling shoes for ordinary flat pedals (no attachment or toe clip system). I'm not sure if its founded, but I'd prefer laceless shoes, don't fancy laces coming loose and getting tangled up in the chain.

Bought a pair of generic "sports" shoes from Dunnes with elastic instead of laces, but my toes get sore as hell in those. A while ago when I wanted to go out for a longer ride I thought to try out my regular "office slippers" on the bike, they worked surprisingly well, pain free at least. But now those have begun to hurt as well, I'm guessing due to my feet slimming down and the shoes stretching out more, the extra wiggle room might be the cause for the pain.

Been looking in all the department stores with no luck. Also found out that "Sports wear" stores such as TKMaxx and Champion Sports don't actually sell sports wear, but "sporty" leisure wear (I lead a sheltered life

Anyone have any tips where to look (Dublin)?

If you find laced shoes that work, you can replace the laces with elasticated Lock Laces. They allow you to slip on/slip off the shoes and will not come undone or get caught in the chain.

I find converse to be good. nice flat sole and all the laces you want. I think the are about E30 in fashion shops. Otherwise a pair of deck shoes would be similar but perhaps not as comfortable
