Anyone know how to stop the menus fading in/out and get them just to appear?

Why on earth would you want to do that, it looks so kewl

anyway, go into control panel, and select display. Then go to effects, and the first option is the one you are looking for "use transition efects in menus" just deselect it

Oh yeah, they are just what I wanted from a new OS...bah! Back to Russia with it!
