Family Guy is my second favourite cartoon, second only to Futurama. I sure hope they make the movie, however, I would much prefer seeing two new series...

There most likely wont be a family guy movie for some time, and even if there is it'll be a direct to video release. Seth MacFarlane is busy working on the new series and a second show called "american dad" as far as i'm aware.

Yeah the money won't happen now, and maybe never at all. However I heard that FOX commissioned a bunch of new episodes like in the region of 35 new ones.

I think Groening has little desire to continue doing the simpsons. He hived off to do Futurama which was threatened with cancellation at least once before it ended - as I recall he threatened Fox with shutting down the Simpsons if they didn't continue funding Futurama after season 2.
Simpsons exists as a money machine for all involved now - all series end up like that. No love involved - don't like it? Don't watch it.
