as in the title, usb connection is not recognising the iphone 6 but the bluetooth connection is fine ?

the 12v port is charging the phone too, so everything bar the usb port seems to be ok

What are you expecting it to do?

Quite likely that the USB socket is not setup to provide the sort of power an Iphone 6 will try to draw.
If it is a data input (mp3s, whatever) for the radio then that is pretty likely. A low power USB port will only supply approx 100mA. It would power an MP3 player or something less power hungry than an Iphone, but the Iphone may refuse to charge off it.
If it is a "high power" USB port it should supply 500mA and the Iphone 6 should be able to charge from that. Half the speed of the standard charger.

if not already test with a genuine Apple cable, we are having poor results with the ones from the pound shop.

Don't think the USB port would have enough power to charge a phone.
