We get these in work (backpacks) and they are quality, best backpack i've ever had.

  • Registered Users Posts: 80,799 ✭✭✭✭Atlantic Dawn

Seems to be a different range online to those in the offer... http://www.wengerna.com/luggage . I'm wondering if the cabin bag fits Ryanair.

  • Registered Users Posts: 370 ✭✭sk282

Not sure if it is same for Ireland but you can get some more info from Tesco Direct HERE

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,077 ✭✭✭paddydriver

When they were doing the pots and pans I had racked up a load of vouchers but don't recall ever been offered them for the glass ware promo... wasn't interested anyway:P

Will definitely be in for these. I have a Wenger laptop backpack and a wheelie cabin case and both are very nice. The backpack is going years!

I did measurements at the time for wheelie and it was fine for Ryanair - think the 18" would be equivalent and should be good. I got mine on the Amazon lightening deals last year for around £55 so getting it now for €35.99 would be great deal.

I'm a Ryanair regular so I have the cabin bag dimensions etched in my memory permanently! (Otherwise it could cost me €50)

    The Ryanair cabin bag maximum dimensions are ..... 55cm x 40cm x 20cm.
So when standing on its wheels the bag has to be no more than 55cm in height, 40cm in width and 20 cm deep.

Tesco UK site has following dimensions:

    Product Height 460.0 MM
    Product Width 340.0 MM
    Product Depth 220.0 MM

Depth is a little over; but never met an air hostess that complained that it was too deep by 2CM:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,630 ✭✭✭Oracle

It has a soft front pocket, put nothing into it and I'd say the depth might be ok: http://www.tesco.com/direct/wenger-18-trolley/770-9172.prd

Lidl will have this case next week at €40, just €4 more, no tokens and it looks better quality.
Although its 5cm too deep, the zipper section might squeeze a bit to fit: http://www.lidl.ie/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_ri_ie/hs.xsl/index_21513.htm

I'm sure Wenger is great quality. When I say better quality, I mean it has more features. The Lidl cases wheels are multi-direction, it has increased capacity at 35 ltrs and a TSA compatible combination lock, so USA ready. Also polycarbonate hard case luggage costs more than soft, it's considered superior, because it offers better protection.

Can I start collecting token today or wait until the offer starts.

    Many thanks in advance.

I asked instore when shopping today and the staff knew less about the offer than me!

The original post said starting Jun 4th, so I'd imagine there will be some promotional launch on Monday

Such a pity, I have to get my shopping done on Sunday. Was hoping to get 7-8 tokens out of that. :(

They are not very fussy on the tokens. Ask nicely and they will give you extra. I collected one of those great quality frying pans for 7 tokens no bother.

The current offer is token for glassware, can I save the tokens for upcoming suitcase offer?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,730 ✭✭✭sxt

No , The glassware tokens will only work for that offer. The suitcase tokens will be completely different with pictures of suitcase embalzoned all over them

A soon to be fired staff member, I'd imagine. Seeing as all they sell is misappropriated Tesco voucher books.

I'm thinking of getting the Lidl hard-shell case that Lidl have this week. Lidl's case is classified as hand luggage by the IATA; however, one side is 5cm too long (55 x 36 x 25) going by Aer Lingus and Ryan Air specs. Are Aer Lingus and Ryan Air very fussy about the exact dimensions for hand luggage, or would you get away with it?

At 5cm over the depth limit the case wouldn't fit into ryanair's carry on baggage checking baskets, and ryanair can be quite fussy

  • Registered Users Posts: 442 ✭✭bothyhead

Ok, looks like the Lidl case is a non-runner so.

would the UK vouchers work in the irish store and vice versa ?

A "golden token" worth ten got put through my door today, only valid for the first two weeks.

Got a Tesco Extra where nobody seemed to buy any of the glassware in the town so it might not be a widespread promotion - but that's just a guess, it could also turn up everywhere!

edit: Coupon is restricted to the Tesco Extra and a select few non-Extra branches only.

Took a photo of one of the bags in Drogheda this evening. This bag is on wheels and has the extendable carry-handle. Good quality, feels sturdy and durable. The range of bags on offer is decent. I will go for one of them myself.

I didn't look at the other bags but did give the backpack a good looking over in Tesco Balbriggan this evening. While it's OK for €14.99 I wouldn't be a fan of it myself and would prefer to pay twice as much for a more comfortable bag from the likes of Columbia or another outdoor specialist. I would suspect that it wouldn't be the most comfortable bag to wear for an extended period of time.

If you are thinking about getting one, give it a look over then pop into your local outdoor store and see what they have on offer. While you may pay more in the long run your back will thank you for it.

There is no way that these bags are the same quality as the ones they sell otherwise, I bought two for about 60 quid each at the start of scool season last year on amazon - so nine months ago, the best quality ever - today I popped in to see them and they are cheap and tacky - nothing like the ones i bought in a million years - so no way are they the same,

They are selling on the name only, defo not a bargain if its cheap quality
