Went into Dunnes earlier and I couldn't walk past the Essence stand without getting something :o They also had the current collection there for the first time ever, Marble Mania. Didn't get anything from it, but there is a cool looking nail art kit.

Wearing this now - Essence Wake Up!

It all varies from place to place. My manicure was $15, pedicure $25. My friend got shellac for $25.
Yeh that is fairly dear like. Wouldn't mind doing it as a once of every now and then but lik you said I'd probably keep it for special occasions too :)

I love that colour. I haven't even looked at the marble mania collection yet. They have a new one coming out soon based on snow white :D They have a big polish called snow white and 7 little ones named after each dwarf :pac: The colours are lovely too.

I had a manicure done once (I was 14 and going on holidays so "needed" my nails done), when I realised what exactly was involved I said never again would I get one done, special occasion or not, I paid around €20 for her to file, shape and paint my nails, something I or my mother could have done, for free.

I guess it'd be nice as a treat every now and then or even for special occasions but certainly not just for 'the sake of getting it done'.

When I think of all the polishes I could get on eBay for €20 :o :P

Yesterday I decided to put Nails Inc basic Street on and layer Natural Collection's Champagne over it, turned out nice I think, will try get a pic later.

I like getting manicures done. They shape my nails better than I can and also apply the polish better. I often bring my own polish with me and they apply it.

I get Shellacs regularly and often get normal manicures in between.

Don't do pedicures so often but I love how they look when I do. I love the deluxe ones, got one in the USA at Xmas and they did everything imaginable. Pricey enough though!

Yeah, it was my first pedicure and I loved it, felt like a real indulgence to me. I think the prices I listed are average around here (add a tip as well!). It seems like a lot of women go in every week for a manicure and I just don't know how they can afford it!

I suppose some people would spend the same amount on cigarettes or drinks every week! It's just about your own priorities. I wouldn't be happy if my nails didn't look good but would happily not have a drink for a month or two!

When I lived in NY I got a mani-pedi once a week! $20 for both, how could you say no?! And the full works, not just file and shapes.

Well, of course! Didn't think of it that way! I'm having a belated Lent as it were and have given up alcohol so I wasn't too upset about spending the money really. I just don't think I could sit in a chair in the salon every week for 3 hours like it took me yesterday. If I had the prices Twee just mentioned, I'd totally do it though :D

The photo doesn't do them justice at all. I have a Shellac mani in Dark Lava on at the moment, and they look stunning layered over it. Here's the Shellac colour, taken from Polished 4 Pros blog

Nail painting ban until after my exams. My nails are in bits right now. Have bought a hardener/strengthener and a cutical oil and I will be religious in using them. Might get a supplement too. They're so soft and flakey and brittle. They break so easily :(

I have just remembered that when I go back to college in September there will be NO painting of my nails :( It isn't allowed :(:(. So I'd best do plenty now :D

    Some dotting tools I ordered arrived yesterday so I went for a simple polka dot nail to get used to using them;

    img0082fd.jpg

I used Rimmel's Double Decker Red with Barry M's Matt White for the dots.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,605 ✭✭✭OakeyDokey

Totally broke and my 21st is in two weeks, taking the plunge and selling most of the nailpolishes I have that are new or just swatched the once on Adverts.ie... I can always purchase those polishes again but I'll never have another 21st.

Kinda bummed over it but I know I'll be grand :)

Oh god good luck with that :(

I had the torment of removing essie a cut above the other day. I havent the patience for the foil method so it was a case of scrub with remover and pick it off !

Yeah, I'm the same! Jesus, I'm exhausted after that! :pac: I think glitter will be strictly limited to accent nails for me from now on!
