Looking at all the various threads of years gone by and in particular the tv programmes. Do anyone remember the lunch time tv programme called The Brothers, used to be on back in the eighties around lunch time. It was about a family running a haulage firm, they were called the hammonds. Ah the memories:)

    .

    Yup, I remember it alright.

It was more of a '70s series really.

As a 10ish year old, I remember it being a big thing with the 'olds'.

Basically, it was Dallas before Dallas was invented.

It's a pity it didn't go on longer.

I saw the Brothers on RTE1 back in 1977/78.
( Then County Cork was one channel land, i.e. RTE )

One episode put a dent in my memory.
The plot was that another transport company had gone into receivership.

The brothers hired an executive from this company to help them bid against a company "A" for the bust company's contracts.
This exec was also hired by this company "A". The brothers and company "A" fired him as both contracts stated "exclusive services".

A third company got the contract. The closing scene showed this exec bursting with laughter.
All of us watching it followed suit.

    It's Available on DVD

The real baddy was a character called Paul Merrony, played by Colin Baker who went on to play Dr Who.

The Brothers. I remember that - just about. I was around 10
Hammond Brothers Transport. Edward,Brian & David
Brian's wife was an alcoholic - My first introduction to Alcoholism.
David's wife was a bit of alright - Can't remember her name
Edward was tapping Jenny a secretrary
The bad guy was Paul Merrony who was engaged to April Winter.
    Wouldn't mind watching a re-run sometime!
