Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

IBuprofen

    I've been taking over the counter IBuprofen for an injury the past couple of days, that wasn't helping with the pain, so I went to the doc to get something stronger & he gave me a perscription for Melfin 400mg take 1 tab 3 times a day. Are these new tablets not the same strength as 2 over the counter tablets? I'm wondering what the difference can be as they are both IBuprofen.
    Not looking for medical advice, just wondering are these any different to the OTC IBuprofen.

    they're exactly the same thing, just double the strength of the OTC product as you said

    Well that was a pointless visit!! What was he thinking? Wonder if it was a mistake?!! hmmm.

    It can be worthwhile checking with your pharmacist first. you'd be surprised how many prescriptions are for OTC products and the customer having spent 50-60e/an hour of their time on the GP. Could save yourself a trip to the doc. If the pharmacy feel they don't have a product effective enough for your situation then they can suggest the doc to you but its no harm checking!

    If you told your doctor you were taking ibuprofen and he prescribed melfen for you then that's pretty poor. Ring him tomorrow if your not happy.

    Yes it's terrible. I'm not one for taking anything bad into my body, I have a good diet, I only use medicine when really needed. So it was a big enough deal going to the doc to get something stronger. The chemist said I can take solpadine as well, seeing as I was originally perscribed stronger painkillers, but I prefer not to. Wow, pointless visit!!! I'm speechless!!!
