A biscuit goes soft when stale
A cake goes hard when stale

    Stale Jaffa Cakes are hard
ergo: A Jaffa Cake is a cake

Well done Stephen Fry. It stuck in at least one head.

They're cakes. They are just small cakes.

You don't go around calling cupcakes biscuits do you?

    You're all just sizeist.

Does it really matter what they are called? They'll all end up the same at the end of the day

The McVities and Jacobs versions are not worth the moral anguish of answering this question. The Superquinn version...I should be given the recipe to conduct lengthy consumer research..

To all those poor deluded folks who think a Jafa Cake is a biscuit just because it's small, what would you call a 3cm wide Black Forest Gateaux?
A 20cm wide biscuit is a large biscuit but still a biscuit and a 3cm wide cake is a small but nonetheless still a cake. :)

What the hell are you talking about, Stephen Fry stuck it in loads of heads!

As for the Jaffa CAKES , well they are quite obviously cakes - it says so right on the box for god sake. They've been legally classed as cakes.
How many more clues do you people need?

Jaffa cakes are cakes cause they go hard when stale?

What retard would leave jaffa cakes long enough in the press for it to go stale?

Yeah I have heard before people referring to soda bread as soda cake, odd but it's like a jaffa biscuit lol.

    Knobcake. Hur hur.

    Also:
You're taking the distinction out of context when you talk about bread being cake. The 'hardness when stale' criterion is only intended to distinguish cake from biscuits, not to define what cake is.

There was a court case for this. It's a cake, buiscuits go soft when they go off, cakes go hard.

No, because it's bread, not cake.

Seriously for people saying biscuit, find me one other biscuit that goes hard when its old.

Fig Rolls, Kimberley, Mikado and Coconut Creams, someone you love....

    Or are they cakes too?

(FTR, I didn't say Jaffa Cakes were biscuits)
