Film: Dead Girl. Must see zombie film, if you haven't seen it don't even bother reading up on it. Just watch it.

TV: Death Valley, that show surprised me and has a good use of zombies.

    Books:

Zombie - An Anthology of the Dead

It's a good book if you give it a chance, but the zombies aren't what one would be used to. It's a collection of short stories, so what the rules are with regards to zombies changes a lot. For example, one story could involve the supernatural and another could be about zombies who can think. It's not really scary, but some of the stories are still really good. Others are a bit bad, but you can skip them.

I've also heard that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is quite good too, but I haven't read it myself.

    Movies:

Film-wise, there was one called infection or infected or something that was good, I'll find the name of it for you guys later. It focused a lot more on what life was like in a zombie apocalypse and features fewer zombies. It's not the best movie ever, but it's good for a night.

[rec] and it's sequel are brilliant too, I'd recommend them to everyone. It's in Spanish and subbed in English, but it won't bother you that much. It's good for scares.

    Game: Dead Frontier

MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online RolePlaying Game). You pick a background (e.g: army, police officer, chef, lawyer, etc.) which affects your starting stats and inventory, then you leave get to go wandering the Inner City and its undead filled streets.

Only been playing it since yesterday but enjoying it so far. Its free to play, too!

Speaking of online games, Urban Dead is a text-based zombie game.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you like levelling up your skills and don't mind the lack of graphics, you'll enjoy it.

You can even turn into a zombie and turn back again, each form has it's own skill set.

There's an absolute ton of zombie games on Newgrounds.com.

The first Rebuild game and The Last Stand series are quite good. Haven't played many of the others.

  • Registered Users Posts: 800 ✭✭✭a fat guy

Closure Limited is another book by Max Brooks. It's pretty short (124 pages), but it IS Max Brooks, so it's still pretty good! The first story is already in World War Z, so if that bothers you then don't get it.

There's also a traditional pen-and-paper RPG game out there called "Outbreak: Undead" which I'm sure you'd all love. It's the only game I've seen that recaptures that desperate "survival horror" feeling in quite a while. It's really in-depth and it's something like 500 pages long. It's only out in the USA so far, but hopefully we'll get it over here at some point.

Also, this thread is great degrass!

Here's a some more recent ones that I haven't seen mentioned.

The Dead (2010) http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt1386925/ Not a bad zombie flick. Set in Africa and goes back to the original ultraslow zombies which I liked.

Devils Playground (2010) http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt1453245/ Stars Danny Dyer  but if you're a zombie fan then its worth the watch.

Rammbock: Berlin Undead (2010) http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt1583356/ Its only an hour long but I enjoyed it. Dunno if you can get it on dvd, I managed to watch it online.

Wasting away ( fantastic premise badly executed)

Zombies of war ( awful awful awful I got about twenty minutes in and turned it off!!!)

Just watched Aaah! Zombies!! on US Netflix, interesting slant on the whole Zombie genre. Don't want to give too much away but in a nutshell looks at zombies from the viewpoint of zombies. No real blood and gore rather a comedy style Zombie flick.

Another movie from the Zombie perspective is Colin a low budget british film I caught on the horror channel and I have seen it repeated there. The channel's website might give a repreat date for those interested. It is also available on the US Netflix.
