I have, but you know what? Having being unemployed for 18 months with all my money going into my mortgage, unable to socialise with my friends, not going anywhere cuz of no petrol, staring at my 4 walls and going mentally insane I really dont give 2 sh!ts about it.

There comes a point where you cant be choosy.

You can keep your negative comments, no skin off my nose im the one thats doing it not you.

Im a more happier person now in myself than I was before Christmas and I look forward to going in every morning.

    :)

    Please refer to posts 745, 746, 748..

Come back to us in six months time.

Will you not get paid for your 4 weeks training whats the deal with that ?

I know someone who went in there from being unemployed, they were being put on a 4 week FETAC type course and were to be paid by the government for that period and then go live and be paid by the company.
Not sure how things would work if you had no social welfare entitlement?
    Presume someone will enlighten us.

    Hiya Reenie,

Im in my 2nd week of training, its 4 weeks unpaid training and paid monthly minimum wage. We only got our shifts today and at the minute its 10.30am-7pm.... Have to say people are lovely there which is a bonus ;)

Thanks for the reply! :D Sounds ok to me, i am definitely going to apply there...4 weeks unpaid sounds better to me than 4,5,6 etc more months living the same way you were before you started working there, it's torture! Call centre might not be what i want to do right now but i don't see much choice really :(

Glad it's going well for you anyway and hopefully i'll be out there soon myself ;)

Gotta say call experience was soul
Destroying for me! People are very irate when dealing with complaints on the phone! They treat you like a robot who dosent express emotions! Believe me it will break you!!!

No it wont break any of us as we are dealing with inbound upgrade calls not customer service. Its a completely different environment.

Oh Amzie you would if you had no cash coming in.

Any job is better than no job when the bills are stacking up.

I had no job for ages and eishtec would not interest me! Any employer who wouldn't even pay your for a whole months training and then you don't get paid untill the second month because wages are paid in arrears is just a complete joke! I'm with an employer who values me enough to pay me! I'm very gratefull for that! Even though it's temp after this I still wouldn't work in a call centre again! It changed my personality:(

I understand people's need to get any job but all I'm saying is that they are taking advantage of people because they know they are desperate an will work unpaid for a period! I totally don't agree with how they are treating staff!!

It's easy see why some of you guys are out of work, twisted negative view on everything!!! It's not working for nothing it's a case of remain claiming job seekers. You get trained, up skilled and accredited by eishtec, work with some great people and meet new friends. Also min wage is totally incorrect....it's a bloody sales job meaning you get paid a bonus depending on how you perform...All Sales Jobs Are at the Same! Typical and convenient all you negative people keep saying it's min wage.

Cheers:) those people are so frustrating! I guess at some level if they keep coming up with excuses it's gives them loads of reasons not to work....someone needs to stand up for all the great people that work in contact centres:mad:

    Well said lady!!

and can all the negative people kindly jog on.....we are the one who have chosen to take them up on their offer, we didn't have to but we did and that's our prerogative...... and my god am I glad I did. I am actually having fun for the first time in ages, the people are amazing, strong friendships are already being formed and the management seem great too......and the job is actually ok too.

To who ever was telling us that we will be soul destroyed and crushed for working in a call centre.....I'm afraid this actually says more about you than the job.

In this doom and gloom you think people would be more positive. But no, they just jump on the band wagon!!

Hope your getting on well Miss Fluffy I love it already :D

Totally agree! All I'm doing is giving an opinion on my experiences! If ppl love call centre work go for it! It dosent bother me! Their are other jobs out there that I would look to do other than stayn on the dole, I'm bored if I don't have a job!:p

I'm not actually saying you shouldnt of taken that job I'm just disagreeing with how they are operating eg not paying You all for training but if your happy then that's great:) and im just saying that call centre work was hell for me because of the abuse you have to take day in day out!

I have a job so it's not an excuse not to work cos there are other fields of work to seek employment in:)

Ladies, welcome to the honeymoon period. Welcome to fun and games (literally), getting to know people, everything's grand, everyone's your friend...

We know the score. Some of us on this thread know the set up only too well, because we used to work for the same boss. We know how she works / they work.

Just watch your back, that's all. No-one is your friend there. Remember that.
