Can you recommend a film which features a great Arnie performance?

Commando. The way he delivers the line "Don't disturb my friend. He's dead tired" is amazing.

Most of Arnie's films have that nostalgic almost comic quality to them that his fans love... but I believe he gives genuinely quality acting performances in the Terminator, T2 and, in my opinion his best film, Predator.

I love most of his other films too, like Commando and Running Man etc but they have more of that pure one-line gold quality in them whereas in the three I mentioned above, he acts very well.

    Except the christmas one.

And its worth pointing out, its not that his performance was bad, its just a crap movie.

Predator and T2. Whatever you do, do not waste 2 hours of your life watching Batman and Robin.

I generally blank Batman and Robin from my memory, when I ever think of Arnold

Thought it was a bit of a robotic performance myself.

To be fair, he did out act Clooney :)

He,s not a great actor by any stretch, agreed with other posters that T2 and Predator are his best films but he pushes himself in the film "End of Days" with our own Gabriel Byrne playing the devil. Most acting i would say Arnie done in any film.

Playing it straight: Predator & Terminator 2

Playing it for laughs while shooting & punching the shìt out of everything and then finishing off with a pun-tastic quip: Everything

Commando is the best for his one-liners:

Arnie doesn't need to act, he just shows up and is.

Predator tops it for me I think, followed by both Terminators and Commando.

    Predator by a mile

"vats duh mattuh Dillon? duh CIA got you pushing too many penceels?!"

    Predator is tops.

No one delivered the one liner with as much chessy goodness as Arnie.

    Often imitated, never equaled.

I love watching Arnold Schwarzenegger movies.

But are we including Hercules in New York.
I saw it once and wouldn't mind seeing it again but not for his acting performance.

Its just gets better and better with every passing year like an old fine wine. So many quotes, so many puns, so much cheesy acting, its almost too awesome.

It doesn't exactly feature Arnold stretching his acting muscles (he plays a bodybuilder!), but Stay Hungry is a little-known gem.

It's a seventies comedy drama directed by Bob Rafelson with a great cast that also includes Jeff Bridges, Sally Field, Scatman Crothers and Robert Englund.

Arnold's pretty natural in it, and it's rare to see him just playing a regular guy. It's occasionally on MGM Movies if you have the channel.
