I think there is a specific LUAS B2 thread there - I might dig it up.

    Hmmmm...might be a bit premature.

I'd say it will be (barring Armageddon) the 2020s by the time B2 gets built.

The road construction schedule seems to be taking the same shape as the previous part they upgraded further south.

They blitzed out the topsoil for both lanes (3N & 3R) and it looked as if it was ready for toplayers within a week or two but now they are starting again along the length of the excavations and are starting to lay new services. Waterpipes for drainage delivered to site last 2 weeks and ducting for all other services (ESB/Fibre etc) on-site this am as I passed.

I imagine they have to do it this way as the workarea is so tight they need to put in a good temporary access road for the trucks etc and then work within that temp road (and to the side of it).

I find it interesting that they have started the works for only rougtly half of the the distance of the final project? Are they going to complete the d3 fully and then tackle the bridge etc?

Yeah not sure what they're up to there but I don't imagine they will be doing a partial opening or anything as they progress as it's such a short works. Must be somehow related to the bridge in at that end.

Maybe it will but just thinking management of it would get a bit crazy.

It looks like a third of the way is under construction, I'd imagine after the first section is done the 3 lanes there would open, and the next section will be to the bridge at the recycling centre, leaving time to upgrade the junction and fix the bridge section.

The nra got back to me with poor reasons for the speed limits outside of the roadworks. There has been a change and increase in emphasis on the 60 kmh limit but little or no reduction in traffic speed afaics

Good progress on SB side with a lot of the new storm water pipework in place and i didn't notice the big pile of ducting there this am so I presume it has been laid.

Noticed several marks (freshly relaid) across the existing carriageway into the hard shoulder so I presume they linked some services across the road over the weekend while traffic was quieter.

the lissenhall on-ramp to M1 southbound has been re-aligned and theres a LOT less space now at the roundbout, its now only 1 lane, where 2 lanes used to merge into one

it'll be interesting to see if it cuts out the knobs flying down the right lane (for swords), into the roundabout, and then moving into the traffic in the left lane going down on to the M1 at the last second.

Do those knobs piss me off!

Correct procedure (as endorsed by the RSA) is to keep an eye in the left mirror as you approach the cut-in point and match your speed to any knobs trying to get past :D

Motorists using the wrong lanes and cutting up other motorists thereafter might need to do another driving test since they don't know the rules of the road - I'm sure their pals would have a good laugh at their newly acquired 'L' plates in such circumstances - might be something to deter this kind of driving since it would no longer be perceived as smart IMO.

    Regards!

Yes, I noticed that on the DCC Traffic Cams last night - looks like the contractors are about to move in on Lissenhall itself - there are AFAIK 4 cycle underpasses to be installed - 3 under the on/off ramps and 1 under Hearse Road - looks like the underpass for the SB on-ramp will be used by pedestrians too.

Things might be getting interesting! :)

    Hearse Road

Wouldn't like to be trying to sell a property on that one! :D

Well there's another way of looking at it - funeral arrangements might not be too problematic there! :-D

Took the bus along the R132 yesterday and can confirm that work is underway on the Lissenhall Interchange itself. Both the NB on and off ramps are narrowed down (in addition to the SB on-ramp) while there's work happening on all corners bar where the SB off-ramp terminates.

DCC Traffic Cam #113 is clearly showing significant activity along the SB on-ramp at Lissenhall.

    Here's the live cam image...

The above image is self refreshing!

the M1S was reduced to 1lane from at least the Malahide road overbridge in Swords tonight around 9pm

Earthmoving going on on the slip from Hearse road to M1S and a smaller bit of soil removed on the M1N to R132S slip

Was at the Lissenhall Interchange today and indeed noticed the excavation work on the new slip from Hearse Road - I also noticed that top soil stripping has commenced on the North-most roundabout there - this is where the right turn slip (for traffic coming from the M1 South towards Swords) is due to go.

    Good to see steady progress!

I have the say the Traffic Management at Junction 4 NB is a joke, it has been forcing the Mainline to a halt since the 'lane drop' on the Off Ramp.

Was there no way the works could have been carried out while still leaving the 'Two lanes' as made by people in the evening rush hour?

Tarmac down today northbound, the base layer was being rolled as I passed just now
Southbound looks like it could be ready to go real soon too!

There's hardcore down on the slip from M1n to r132s

The roundabout south of the m1 at Lissenhall is closed off preventing a full circuit, and soil has been cleared to allow a straight through approach through both rab's

Tarmac down NB and SB now. Still not finished 1st layer across the full works SB but 80% there. Quality testing underway on the new Tarmac NB this am and some planing works SB.

How long will it take to put down the centre median?

A rule of thumb for concrete curing is 1mm/day for a poured floor in a house, the bottom of a jersey barrier is what 500mm, but may be banked up on one side, affecting the curing rate.

I think they were putting down more than 1/2km/day on the M8 of single barrier, here double barrier and about a km, so week to pour the barrier? Cargo seems to have his finger on the pulse though... :)

Was a car passenger at Lissenhall today and there's plenty to see:

    1) M1 SB to R132 SB right slip through North Roundabout - Hardcore down;

    2) R132 SB lanes through South Roundabout - Deep excavation underway;

    3) M1 NB to R132 SB left slip - there appears to be hardcore down.

I haven't seen any major excavation work for any of the cycle underpasses to date - there is however, a lot of clearance to be seen along the M1 NB on-ramp. I have also seen a lot of clearance around the Hearse Road entry/exit to the North Roundabout.

    Regards!

approx 10 trucks lined up this morning with tar in them and the tar laying machine out on the SB side of the M1. Always good to see progress :)

No just spotted a guy standing beside a van labelled "Mattest" as I passed yesterday am :)

yeah they seems to be laying the last bit of SB 1st layer.

No sign of any formwork machinery on-site yet though. (for the central barrier) Hopefully it'll move onto site over the weekend. With the tight working area on the mainline works they probably only bring specialist kit to site right when the need it. Too much tarmac stuff in the way at the minute.

a good few more trucks with tar parked up this morning on the SB side.

Without being a rubbernecker and delaying all the traffic I was trying to see what the progress was and it seems that the SB side is tarred level with the current road

I was wondering a bit about this lately. Do they normally put in the Median barrier (concrete type) after the 1st base layer goes down and then when thats set put the final layer down up against it or do they put all tarmac layers down and then put the concrete barrier into place?

If the later then that might explain the absence of any formwork machines to date.

I'lll go off and do a bit of googling for videos......
