Anyone know of good breeders in Ireland?
Always interested in owning this particular breed have two staffies in the parents house since a child, but moving out soon and would like to get an AmStaff to keep me company :D

I'm not sure about AmStaff's but the rescues always have loads of staffs looking for new homes.

We got ours from www.dogsindistress.org. You could also try the dspca or egar.org.

Can't recommend a breeder for you but plenty of gorgeous bull breeds in rescue around the country crying out for a home with an experienced owner such as yourself. Have a look maybe?

i would'nt bother asking the dspca as an am staff is a pitbull, but as has been said already theres plenty in shelters looking for homes

Out of interest do the dspca not rehome bull breeds? I thought an AmStaff was a variation of an English staffy, but just bred to be larger over in the States.

Sorry, but the Am Staff is not a pitbull, its an Am Staff Terrier, a pitbull is a different breed so dont confuse them.

i think its you whos confused, the american staff is the name the american kennel club gave the pitbull when the decided to register them, many years ago,

It's really quite simple. APBT and AmStaff once started off as the same "type" then called Bull and Terrier. Over the years two strains emerged: show and working. In the US both "breeds" are still dually registered as BOTH.

You wont find an Amstaff in the shelters as they are very hard to come by in Ireland but here is a breeder i think they are based in cork ? And im sure they have a litter due in September ;)

The dogs on that website all have their ears cropped :(
Is that even legal in Ireland? It seems really cruel to me.

Afaik all those dogs that are cropped were brought in from abroad where cropping is legal.
If there are pups born in ireland they will not be cropped as its illegal in Ireland.
