That's probably in relation to this

Limerick City Council's Environment Department will be undertaking street cleaning and maintenance works on the R445 Ennis Road Dual Carriageway on Tuesday next, 28th February, 2012 between 09.00 and 13.00, between the Coonagh Roundabout and the Clare Border at Lansdowne Bridge (near Sheils' Motors)

Motorists are requested to exercise caution in the vicinity of these works, particularly on the outer lanes where a 'Crash Cushion' vehicle will be deployed (as shown in the picture below) for the safety of personnel working on the central reservation. Extra signage will also be in place and variable message signs on the approaches will be configured accordingly. A 60 km/h speed limit will continue to apply.

Slightly related topic but just to give folks a heads up. Work is starting on the N24/N7 interchange at Ballysimon this week for the next 6 months. Seen them putting up the traffic cones this evening. Expect alot of pain there in the mean time but if it addresses the issues of that interchange then it will be worth it.

is that the exit off the motorway

They are redesigning the entire interchange, widening the north bound slip road from the motorway, putting a roundabout on the N24 at the junction where you turn off down towards Morission's Pub, increasing the number of lanes on the approach road of the N24 where the traffic lights are.

There was an article in last weeks Limerick Post on it.

heard some time ago that residents were looking for traffic lights here - combine that with the City Council's aim to get more people using the tunnel, maybe the lights are going ahead.

Tbf, there should be a crossing somewhere on that stretch, na Piarsigh, for example, is on the other side of the road for most of Caherdavin.

Has anybody been on the Ballysimon road today, have the works commenced and what are the delays like?

    Thanks

Will report back around 6pm but they were putting up more traffic cones there this morning at around 8.30am.

I'm willing to put up with a few weeks of delays if they sort out that debacle of a junction.

It's an absolute joke...looks like it was designed by a 3 yr old. Sheer dumb luck that a major accident hasn't happened yet at exit 29 on the motorway coming from the Dooradoyle direction

Travelled that way today, no problems as the works proper have not started yet. At the moment they are just doing preparatory work.

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,060 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

No work started this evening, just traffic cones on both approach directions of the N24.

It looks like Mr Cormac Hurley is now involved and also looking for a path on the back for getting this approved, one notice says work starting in April another says June/July. http://www.limerickleader.ie/news/business/local-business/traffic-lights-to-be-installed-at-busy-limerick-junction-1-4737510 I rang Mr Qunlivan over 2 weeks ago to ask some questions but no call back.
