Meeting people in Dublin

Not looking for lifelong friends (though if that happened it'd be great), but just people around my age (23) to go socialising with.....have the craic with etc...it's so hard to meet people in Dublin and it's a shame cause I love going out in the city when I rarely get the chance to. Anyone got any ideas? Would just love to go out on a Saturday night with a bunch of girls my own age and dance my feet off and have some fun. I'm in college outside the city and none of my friends here dare venture in to the big smoke so it's hard to find people to go out in town with.

    Of course! ;)

Ah it's just annoying you know....I love Dublin and can't exactly go out pubbing and clubbing on my own. Damn these students out here, typical culchies that hate everything Dublin.

Why dont you try join some clubs in the city? What are you interested in? If you join a club in the city, they will more than likely go into town at night and party!

What are you doing in college at 23! I went to college for 2yrs and have been working full time for the last 4 years and I'm also 23 :p

What's wrong with still being in college at 23? I know people still in college at 30. Most of my friends in college are my age.

Pfwah, being 23 in college is nothing. I'm 34 and in 1st year of a pharmacy degree. I don't mind being older at all - when I was in college first time around I was clueless. Now I feel like I'm sort of getting it right. Mind you, it helps that the class is lovely!

    About going out ....
A friend of mine (22) moved from the country to Dublin and just joined loads of stuff where they went out afterwards. She did the free language classes in the Ilac library and salsa classes and they always went pubbing and clubbing afterwards. I think some of her salsa classes were actually in a nightclub and they got free in after the class.

the Leon would win hands down (assuming cupra R model). the glanza is only a trumped up starlet with a turbo!

Should probably post on the NUI Maynooth forum. Find some peeps to head out with. A while ago there was talk of having an NUI beers night so all the NUI boards users could meet up. Might be a thought to try arrange it again. :)

    Blondie81,

I can get you free passes to D2 NightClub, Harcourt street (over 21s), for sat. night. Maybe that would encourage your friends to go out. PM me if you're interested (and any1 else for that matter  )

no need to fret blondie, if you have a job, go out with ppl from work. If not, get a job, 4-8 hrs/week will do, then go out with them. that way there's no risk of meeting strangers that might be head cases. failing that, i know some ppl in maynooth who are pretty cool. cud pm me for details etc... but try and do it on ur own 1st, you seem pretty 2gether, shouldn't b 2 hard! gesundheit

Sounds good? Have you ever been to D2?

Now, I'm never been the kind of person who enjoys night clubs... but I ended up there one night last month. It's pretty horrible and the floor is all sticky.

Thanks for your help....just a bit of downer sometimes when I'd love to go out on a Saturday night and there's no one to go with. But thanks for your help, maybe I'll meet some nice people when I start working.

No, they hate Dublin. We go out in Maynooth during the week but at weekends most of them go home and the ones that don't wouldn't step foot in town if I paid them.

Try and organise going into town for a meal somewhere and then just make a night out of it. Make it like an end of year/exams sort of thing. Any occasion would do actually.

    (Make up an occasion!)

    /edit

If you make up a good occasion then maybe some of your mates would stay up for the weekend too!

  • Slightly off topic, but nonetheless:

How do you get back to Maynooth after a night on the tiles in town?

Nitelink leaves at 3.30am (there's earlier ones too of course) and I'm back in my house at 4.00am. Not bad.
