On Saturday, June 21st 2008, the Pop Group "Westlife" will perform a concert at Pearse Stadium, Salthill, Galway.

A capacity crowd of 30,000 patrons is expected to attend the venue. This concert is an all ticket event.

The gates to the Stadium will open for patrons at 4.00 p.m. and the concert, with Supporting Acts, will commence at 6.30 p.m.

Gardai will be on duty on the approach roads to the Stadium. A barrier system will be in operation and only patrons with tickets will be allowed to approach the Stadium vicinity.

The barriers, on the approach roads to the Stadium, will remain in force until after the concert is finished. Vehicular traffic will not be allowed past the barriers, nor will they be allowed to approach the Stadium, until after the concert patrons have left the Stadium vicinity. People should make arrangements to pick up patrons at a location away from the Stadium.

Gardai ask patrons to be mindful of the following safety points:

    (5) Motorists are advised not to leave personal property exposed in parked cars. Property should be left at home or placed in the boot prior to arriving at parking locations.

    (6) Patrons are advised that Bus Éireann will provide a Shuttle Bus Service, from outside "The Skeffington Arms Hotel" on Eyre Square to Salthill for this event. The first bus will depart at 2.00 p.m. and patrons will be dropped off at Dalysfort Road / Promenade Junction (5 minute walk from venue). Return buses, to the City Centre, will depart from outside Scoil Éinde on Dr. Mannix Road after the concert.

Free bus to link Dublin attractions

    Eoin Burke Kennedy

A free shuttle bus service linking some of the capital’s main cultural attractions is to begin operating this week.

The Dublin Cultúr Bus, which will run on Sundays between 12 noon and 5pm until the end of September, is part of an initiative by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism to promote the city’s national cultural institutions.

The bus will serve Merrion Square (National Gallery of Ireland); Dame Street (Chester Beatty Library and Temple Bar); Market Street off Thomas Street (Guinness Storehouse); Military Road (Irish Museum of Modern Art); Wolfe Tone Quay (National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks); Parnell Square (Dublin City Gallery, the Hugh Lane; Dublin Writers’ Museum and the James Joyce Centre); Nassau Street (National Museum of Ireland); Trinity College (The Book of Kells and the new Science Gallery).

The service runs every 30 minutes and the first bus departs from the Merrion Square entrance of the National Gallery at noon.

The Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism is funding the service as part of a marketing programme which aims to make Sunday a culture day in Dublin.

The programme also aims to highlight several exhibitions and events taking place over the summer at these locations, including the Rembrandt Etchings at the Chester Beatty Library and the Impressionist Interiors at the National Gallery.

Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works and the Arts, Dr Martin Mansergh said: “A variety of events and exhibitions are planned for residents and visitors to explore in our capital throughout the summer.

“With free access to many of these exhibitions combined now with this free Sunday bus service, I would encourage people to enjoy all that our cultural heritage has to offer.”
