I'm a big Dylan fan, but I've never entirely got Blonde on Blonde.

Blood on the Tracks would be my favourite. I like just about everything on that album, other than "Buckets of Rain".

"Another side", "The Freewheelin", would probably be lagging close behind.

That album doesn't get the respect it deserves.
Blood on the Tracks... I like just about everything on that album, other than "Buckets of Rain".

I'm the exact same, I've never really liked that track. I know a few hard-core Dylan fans that rate it as his best.

    My list would probably be as follows;
    1. Blonde on Blonde
    2. Highway 61 Revisited
    3. Bringing It All Back Home
    4. John Wesley Harding
    5. Modern Times

Indeed i was,i got nothin but scorn;)

On "Desire",while it isnt a favourite of mine, thats more of a reflection on the quality of Dylans back catalogue than the album itself, the whole record has a great sound to it,down to the violin i think, especially on "One More Cup Of Coffee",the live version of "Isis" from the 75 tour is off the charts though, not available on Youtube but im sure you know it...

    "If you want me to.....yeaahh!!"

Edit:Oh and i also love "the snow was outrageous" from "Isis"......outrageous??? ha ha

Can't agree with you there. There's a lyric on a song on Infidels- 'Steal a little and they throw you in jail, steal a lot and they make you king' -or in our case Taoiseach. Class.

I don't do lists. Anyway, the question was Best Dylan Album? My answer remains Desire.

thanks Supersonic, although most people don't count live collections as albums

live at budokan would be my favourite live dylan release

  • Registered Users Posts: 49 thelungs

    1. Highway 61 Revisited
    2. Freewheelin'
    3. Blonde on Blonde
    4. Blood on the tracks
    5. Bringing it all back home

  • Registered Users Posts: 247 ✭✭johnwd

    1. Street Legal
    2. Planet Waves
    3. Blood on the Tracks
    4. Highway 61

I just love the lyrics and the sound to Street Legal - very underestimated IMHO - first and last tracks as well as Senor are up there with his very best.

Favourite track isn't a song at all: Last thoughts on Woodie Guthrie. Only time he's recited a poem.

Compilations etc: Biograph (especially "abandoned" love and "caribbean wind"). Before the Flood for live album - never really got into At Budokan ... must give it a listen to now!
